Why am I so passionate about Habitat-Spokane? I grew up hearing about Habitat, and when I would think about Habitat I would envision a group of volunteers putting up a wall, swinging hammers, and people being handed keys to a home. My eyes were opened to what it is they are REALLY doing in our community when I was blessed with the opportunity in August 2019 to join their team as a staff member*. 

I realized...
- Just how INCREDIBLE and LIFE CHANGING the work happening through Habitat is.
- Habitat for Humanity is so, so, SO much more than swinging hammers and handing people keys to homes.
- Prospective Habitat homeowners do a LOT more than just getting handed keys to a house...

I now understand that families in the homeownership program:
- Have a NEED for safe and affordable housing.
- Will be ABLE to pay an AFFORDABLE mortgage (including saving for closing costs and attending different classes to prepare them for being homeowners).
- Will complete Sweat Equity by VOLUNTEERING HOURS on their own home, another community member's home, or volunteering in other ways (such as helping at events or working in the Store).
